(Back to Capabilities & Services)

L&G Engineering Laboratory's Engineers and staff are Pre-certified by the Texas Department of Transportation & Certified by the American Concrete Institute to perform work in several different categories such as Asphaltic Concrete (Hot-Mix Asphalt) and Portland Cement Concrete (Ready-Mix Concrete).

Portland Cement Concrete and Raw Material Sampling and Testing is performed in accordance with the TXDOT's Manual of Testing Procedures and the American Concrete Institute procedures. All Sampling and Testing will be performed by experienced ACI- Field Grade I Certified Personnel. The technician will review & record batch weights and determine compliance with approved Concrete Mix Design & applicable tolerances. Sampling and Testing will be performed at specified intervals (Samples will be obtained and Tested for Slump, Air Content, Temperature and if required, Uniformity, Compressive / Flexural Strength) In addition, the technician will provide a visual inspection of the production plant to ensure that all equipment meets project specifications (chemical admix burettes, aggregate stock piles, truck mixers).

Hot Mix Asphalt / Raw Material Sampling and Testing performed in accordance with the Department's Manual of Testing Procedures & the American Society for Testing & Materials. All Sampling and Testing will be performed by Experienced TAPA Level 1-A Certified Personnel. Sampling and Testing will be performed at specified intervals based on project specifications (Lots, Sub-Lots, Small Quantities.) The technician will record production test results as obtained on TxDOT or other approved forms (Spreadsheets and Control Charts). The results of on-going production testing will be reviewed for compliance with project plans, specifications and design / operational tolerances. In addition, the technician will provide a visual inspection of the production facilities to include the verification of plant temperatures and stock pile contamination.
